I don’t think it matters. But keep in mind that you need the same connector
(i.e. usually 6pin to 6pin) on both ends.

Actually, the connector is a don’t-care. If it’s Firewire, just select
the proper cable (4-4, 4-6, 6-6 connectors, plug it in, and enjoy the
blazing speed.
