Windows Server 2016 TP5 + WindDbg

kiran_kumarkiran_kumar Member Posts: 14

I am trying to connect Windows Server 2016 TP5 through WinDbg(from WDK 10) running on Windows Server 2008 using Serial Port.

I did enable /debug on and /dbgsettings for the same (com1) but not able to break into Kernel.

Are there any known issues?

Thanks for the help.

Have you tested the cable on other pair of machines or in usermode with some terminal program?
Sorry for asking this, but things happen.

Yes. I am using this cable since long for 2008 and 2012 kernel debugging. I did try again after using it for 2016.It works fine.

the following are what I tried.

    1. Use WDK 10 debugger.
    2. Use 2016 GA build.
    3. N/W debugging.
    4. I have also tried 2016 Host running debugger.

Are there any other bcdedit settings other than /debug and /dbgsettings for 2016 ?

Did you never get this resolved?

This may sound counter-intuitive, but have you tried network debugging? I've found a couple of instances with Windows 10 where network kernel debugging works where VirtualKd and serial will not.
