How to generate Windbg readable user mode crash dumps..

Is it possible to generate user.dmp from within a process’s exception
handler filter function, and not causing the process to be killed.
I can do that manually by non-invasive attach of the process to windbg
followed by .dump command.

I have checked up utilities like dotcrash.exe, userdump.exe etc. but none of
them fit my needs.

TIA.

Sure many ways.

You can either call one of the dump functions in dbghelp.dll or you can use dbgeng.dll (basicly the debugger) and programicly do a non-invasive attach and a .dump against yourself.

Check out the SDK in the lastest debugger. I believe there sample to do a self non-invasive attach…
