Subject: [ntdev] NDIS TMF files
Hi folks. On behalf of the NDIS team, I’d like to announce the availability
of TMF files for NDIS.SYS on all versions of Windows 7 and Windows Server
2008 R2.
As an aside, let me just say that the network team has historically been among THE most responsive to the driver development community. [The other team that deserves mega-praise in terms of their community responsiveness is the KMDF/UMDF team, whose very FOUNDATION was based on community interaction… but I’ll leave the kudos for that team to another time.]
For the network group, the heritage of responding to the needs of driver writers goes WAY back, to the days when the NDIS miniport (remember full MAC drivers?) and deserialized models were introduced… specifically as a result of working with the driver developers and hearing our pain points. I know, because I was there.
So, we know not all teams are equal in their ability to hear and respond to driver developer community feedback. And we know there are teams that hear us and spend time and effort to make things happen on our behalf when they can.
I knew I was pushing off diagnosing a weird customer reported issue between an LWF and an IM driver for a reason. Now I have the tools to go investigate it.
