I am working on minifilter which sends the file path to the user-mode application. The user-mode application then processes filePath and returns a boolean result. I don't want to send messages for every file type from the minifilter because I need to discard some file types. Getting file type from its extension is not valid each time because the user might rename the file to some other filetypes. so this is a problem for me.
If I don't discard some file types then the kernel sends a message for every file type and it takes a lot of CPU processing.
So if I get the MIME type from file signature then we can discard message at kernel level itself so we won't need to send message to user mode & it will save CPU processing.
So is it possible to get MIME type from the file name in minifilter?
I will be very thankful for the responses.
Thanks & waiting for the valuable reply from the experts.
