Changes to WinDbg List Addressing

WinDbg Members,

This notice only affects members who receive list postings (new topics and replies) via email.

In an attempt to accommodate anti-spam measures that are being enforced by some email hosts, we have altered the way outgoing email from the list is sent.

Since the dawn of time, list messages have had their headers set to be that of the poster of a new topic or a reply. Thus, posts to the list were attributed to the author. This is not acceptable to some mail systems, who consider this as forging the from address.

Starting today, the “FROM” field of the email will now contain the username (including email address) as the “full name” and the sender will always be the list. Thus, posts will now always come from ntdev at OSR dot com – but the author’s name and email address will also be supplied.

How this formulation is shown is specific to your email client – But according to our tests, Outlook seems to display this addressing format nicely.

We hope this change makes receiving email on various hosts easier and more reliable. We’re eager to hear your comments/feedback.

Is this in response to that old dmrc thingy which prevented me from
receiving mails from yahoo posters from last 3 or 4 years

That is a very a welcome initiative
