There is a problem with "Get started with the Hardware Developer Program".

Hi!
I need a new certificate because of the secure boot option. (Only Windows 10)
So I tried authentication in the following order.

  1. https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/dashboard/registration/hardware -> Click Next

  2. https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/dashboard/registration/Hardware?step=CertificateInformation -> Click Next

  3. https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/dashboard/registration/Hardware?step=SignUpload ->Download a signable file and Upload your signed file

Here is the problem.

The certificate has already been used for registration

The code signing certificate you used to sign in the file is already used by . Please contact your account administrator and have them add you to the directory.

Once you’ve been added, you can sign in and manage certificates associated with .

If this is the case, press the “Sign in with Azure AD” button and go to step 1 again.

Do you know why this is happening?
I bought a EV certificate. and “Azure AD” is a trial version.

Please help me.

Use the “Submit an Incident” feature from the Dashboard… Click the ? in the upper right hand corner.

Nobody on the forum here is going to be able to help you.

Was there a solution to this? I’m currently having this problem, and getting Microsoft support ticket ping pong.

Just want to share my thoughts on the hardware program website…

It is absolutely the most horrible service i have used, the absolute worst. I remember a year ago where i was assigned to sign up in this horrible program, it took me a month to finally sign up and get it to working… i received random problems during the signup non stop… I really wonder who is Microsoft paying to build these services? a 16 year old?

Anyways, as for the problem you are mentioning, i remember seeing a post in their forum similar to yours, where the guy signed and uploaded the binary to their horrible portal, and it received a random error the next step, and afterwards he couldn’t even use the cert to sign up anymore because their portal thought this certificate is already used… The solution was that the guy contacted their support and after one or two month they fixed it for him…

If you know which account has the certificate listed, you can temporarily
delete the certificate from that account.
If you never used the certificate, check that the only account you have
does not already have it listed, and remove if so.

Whatever you do with HW Dashboard - WRITE DOWN ALL THE STEPS YOU TAKE,
literally.
If you do not, your company will have 100x the problems you had, at the
least when you are no longer at the company.

I, also, have had to write down the exact steps that worked, and I have to have the recipe in front of me every time.

In fairness, however, this site web is offering hundreds of services to perhaps a hundred thousand users worldwide, and we are a rather small group focused on one tiny area. I always try to tell myself that I’m just not seeing the bigger picture, just before I go rant and rave in the break room.
