Re: //BUILD/ != WinHEC but did have some nice news for the DriverDev community!

One Driver related Session. One.

Luckily it was a pretty good session. Thanks PeterW!

By the way, NOT PUBLISHING A CONFERENCE OUTLINE until it is way too late to
cancel your ticket, is rather bogus.

Has anyone seen my DriverDevCon? I lost it someplace in Redmond a few years
ago and wondered if anyone picked it up.

Missed connections

You got out the door and disappeared before I could catch you to say hi. So belatedly, hi.

This is why I don’t go to Build. I have some big customers who have told
their Microsoft sales and support guys (who told them they needed to have
their people go to Build to know what Microsoft is doing), that they wanted
these bozos to pay for cost of the conference, the travel costs, and the
loss of the developer for a week.

I Microsoft really cares about reaching out to developers they need to
restore some conference (either DDC or WinHEC) for driver writers. Think
about things like the new UMDF model, having presentations on it (yes it is
KMDF), with feedback would have been good. Microsoft drop the idea that you
can only present new stuff at a conference, many of us would happily sit
through “lessons learned” sessions on old topics.

Yeah I had to go to a meeting to discuss the conference. Peter’s session
was scheduled for bailout time.

It was lost… but I think it may be found sometime relatively soon.

Signs (such as the introduction of the Shark’s Cove dev board) are that Microsoft is returning to a policy of broader engagement with the driver development community… which, if true, would be a very good thing indeed.

I started to write a more detailed reply to this thread, but it got so long I figured I’d turn it into a blog post and not clutter up the list: http:
