Make sure to try the whole range. I personally try to run at
115200 which is the fastest com ports can go.

Actually COM ports can go faster nowadays (with a good cable of course).
I’ve been using 1Mb for a private connection for quite some now. Is there
any hope this will be implemented in Windbg/KD anytime?

Microsoft would like to dump serial ports entirely (they suggested it but
got push-back and retained support in XP, though I’m suspecting it will be
gone for the next version of windows) and go with USB and/or FireWire
(etc.) for debugging. I have not tried USB debugging with XP but it’s
supposed to work…
